Kun 10 år gammel beslutter JB at stikke af hjemmefra for at finde sin rette plads i livet. Mange år efter finder han den i rock’n rolls Mekka – Hollywood. Her støder han nemlig på KG som spiller Bachs ”Bourrees in E Minor” på en klassisk guitar. Inden længe danner de et band. Men branchen og publikum er nådesløse, og deres eneste chance for succes er at vinde Open Mic Night på byens lokale bar. Men så vil skæbnen det hverken mere eller mindre, end at JB og KG finder nøglen til succes – på samtlige af Rolling Stones forsider er nemlig alle store guitarister gennem tiderne udstyret med samme plekter, og inden længe får de fortalt myten om plekteret. Alle store mestre har på karrierens højdepunkt haft plektret i hånden, og nu er det udstillet på Rockens Historiske Museum – et uindtageligt fort. Men JB og KG er enige om, at plektret er deres skæbne og deres vej til at blive verdens største rock band... Jack Black og Kyle Gass rocker direkte ind i din sjæl og vil ændre dig for altid!
